Preservation Plaques
Block Island’s undeniable charm lies within its historic homes, hotels, outbuildings, and lighthouses. These buildings are what make our island so uniquely special. Scenic Block Island is launching the Preservation Plaque Program. Our aim is to highlight historic structures within our community and, therefore, increase public awareness by placing historic plaques on them.

About the Plaques
For the creation of the sign, a 1/2-inch Azek is prepared. All the lettering is done in black type consistent with the time period on a white background. Two holes are pre-drilled on the left and right sides of the oval plaque. Included are 2 stainless steel screws that are painted black with Rustoleum on the screw head.
The oval plaque measures 16’ by 11½.
The cost for an historic plaque is $250.00 (no tax).*
